Federal Court backs $450 million fine for Crown Resorts

The Federal Court has backed an agreed $450 million fine for Crown Resorts, despite earlier suggesting the scale of the company’s wrongdoing at its Perth and Melbourne casinos merited a bigger penalty.
Justice Michael Lee on Tuesday endorsed a settlement announced by financial crimes watchdog AUSTRAC in May that will see Crown pay the fine — one of the biggest in the world against a casino group — in three instalments over the next two years.
